Career Guidance after HSC 12th science stream for pharmacy

One has an option to choose 3 years Diploma in pharmacy or 4 years B Pharm and then do 2 year M Pharm or 6 year integrated course in Pharmacy. The basic eligibility criteria is have passed/appeared the HSC (Std.XII) examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics/ Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject.





The admissions are based on entrance exams. In Maharashtra CET is conducted only in the online mode in multiple sessions. It comprises of 3 papers viz (i) Biology, (ii) Physics & Chemistry, (iii) Mathematics with 50 multiple choice objective type questions carrying 2 marks each. Each Paper shall be of 100 Marks and 1 hour duration.Online registration for CET can be done in month of March and test is conducted usually in April. These are indicative dates one should look for exact time schedule for the application and exam from the respective websites. Panjab University Common Entrance Test (PU CET) entrance exam is conducted for admission to B Pharm.

M Pharm can be done after completion of B Pharm and by qualifying MPH-CET or GPAT. MPH-CET application can be done online during May and exam is also conducted in the same month. The results are usually declared in the month of June. Question paper pattern is similar to GPAT. Only objective questions will be asked with no negative marking system in MAH‐MPH‐CET 2014.



Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore considers KVPY, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced as well as AIPMT scores for admission to its 4 year Bachelor in science program. There are 100 seats in the B S Program.

Qualifying NEST is compulsory for admission to 5 year integrated M Sc. Course in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) , Bhubaneshwar, UM-DAE CBS Mumbai and ISERC. The students admitted to NISER and UM DAE CBS are eligible for INSPIRE scholarship (of Rs 60,000 per year and upto Rs 20,000 per year for summer / winter internship Instituted by Dept of science and Technology, Government of India). All India entrance examination for admission to bachelor degree programs in Agriculture and allied sciences at Agriculture Universities is conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research ICAR for admission to 100% seats at Bachelor degree at NDRI Karnal, RLB Central University Jhansi and 15% seats for Bachelor degree at State Agricultural Universities, Central Agri University Imphal, Central Universities with Agricultural Faculty like BHU , Vishwa Bharti, Nagaland University, SHIATS Allahabad. Bachelor degree programs in the subjects of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fishries, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, Biotechnology, Agriculture engineering, Dairy Technology, Food Science, Agricultural marketing. National Talent Scholarships (NTS) will be awarded to Bachelor degree students based on the merit-rank examination. The test comprises of one question paper consisting of 180 multiple-choice objective type questions, in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Agriculture) for “STREAM–A” (PCB) and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for “STREAM–B” (PCM). The question paper will be in ENGLISH and HINDI with negative marking system for each incorrect answer.


Regional Institute of Education (RIE) Common Entrance Examination (CEE) is conducted for admission to B.Sc. B.Ed. / B.Sc.Ed. / BA B Ed / M Sc B Ed course offered by Regional Institute of Education, Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Mysore. Students with valid RIE CEE score can also apply for admission in 4 Year B.Sc. B.Ed. Course in Prarambh, School for Teacher Education (Setup by Govt. of Haryana) at Jhajjar, Haryana. Syllabus for Common Entrance examination is given below. The marks distribution out of 100 marks for the topics
below is given in brackets. The test will comprise of 80 multiple choice questions with negative marking system and the duration of the test is 120 min.

1. Teaching Aptitude/ Attitude: Reflections of National Curriculum Framework, RTE Act, Child Rights, Programmes and Policies of Government of India (30%)

2. Reasoning ability :Verbal, Non-Verbal (30%)

3. Language proficiency in English: Comprehension and Grammar (20%)
Rest 20% marks will be of aggregate marks obtained in 12th exam only in subject of combinations of the group they are applied for.


GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to BCA, BA LLB, BBA LLB, BBA, BJMC, BHMCT, B Com Hons. Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is organized for admission to Integrated, undergraduate and post Graduate and Research Programs ( BA B Ed, B Sc B Ed, BA LLB, Integrated MA, MA, M Sc, M Sc B Ed, Integrated M Sc in 10 Central Universities of Haryana, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu, Jharkhand, Kashmir, Kerala, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.


Benaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi conducts BHU UET for admission to its various undergraduate programs. The test will be conducted at Varanasi, Mirzapur, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai.


Panjab University Common Entrance Test (PU CET) entrance exam is conducted for admission to B Sc Hons in Anthropology, Bio Chemistry, Bio Physics, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Microbiology, Mathematics, Mathematics and Computing, Physics, Physics and Electronics, Zoology.



Humanities and social Sciences Entrance exam (HSEE) is conducted every year for admission to 5 year integrated MA Course in Developmental Studies and MA in English Studies offered by IIT Madras. There are 46 seats and first 2 years are common to all students after which they get into specialized stream. The exam is of 3 hours duration and has two parts. Part 1 is an online test consisting of MCQ's of 2 and half hours duration (online test) which covers English and Comprehension, Analytical and Quantitative techniques, Indian Economics, Indian Society, Contemporary World affairs, and environment and ecology. Part II requires candidate to write an essay on general topic. The exam is held in the month of April in 9 cities in India and Foreign Nationals can also take admission through this exam only. Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) BA Hons Social Work Entrance (TISS BAT) is conducted every year for admission to 3 year BA Course in Social Work with specialisation in Rural Development and for BA and MA integrated program. The courses are offered at Hyderabad, Guwahati, Tuljapur. There are 60 seats in each campus (Total 180). The exam is an online test of 90 minutes duration and there are total 100 marks. Part A is 60 minutes with MCQ's on current affairs, social awareness and logical and analytical ability. Part B is written test with descriptive questions in English. The test is general conducted in the month of May.


Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is conducted in the month of May by Symbiosis International University, Pune for admissions to  ndergraduate Degree Programmes. The exam is of one and half hours duration and is an objective type test. SET is conducted in two sessions for 5 question papers and a candidate may apply to take one each from the two sessions. There is negative marking in the paper . the various papers in SET are Law, Design, General ( Applicable for BCA / BBA / BMS/ B Sc Eco/ BA), Engineering and Health Sciences.

Delhi University B El Ed Entrance CEE is conducted every year for admission to 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education B El Ed A Course at Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Gargi College, Institute of Home Economics, Jesus & Mary College, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Mata Sundri college, Miranda House, Shyam Prasad Mukherji College. There are 400 seats in all. The exam is scheduled in the month of June. It is of 3 hours duration and 150 marks. Part A has multiple choice questions aimed to assesses bilingual language comprehension and Reasoning. Part B is also multiple choice and tests subject knowledge in Science, Social Science and Mathematics upto class 10th.

Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata takes a national level entrance test is conducted during May of every year for admissions to its B Sc Statistics (offered at Kolkata) and B Sc Mathematics (Offered at Bengaluru). The entrance test assesses capability in Mathematics. The Indian National Maths Olympiad awardees of any previous year are exempted from writing the entrance exam.


Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) are Government of India Institutions located at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvanathapuram and Triputi which offer 5 year integrated BS MS degree. There are around 1000 seats in all. Students need not appear for entrance test if they apply though IIT JEE advanced and KVPY. Students applying through board marks have to appear for IISER aptitude test in the month of June - July. The government of India provides a scholarship of Rs 5000 to all the students selected.

Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) conducts entrance test in the month of May for admission to its 3 years B Sc in Mathematics and Computer Science and 3 year B Sc Hons in Mathematics and physics. The institute also offers M Sc and PhD. There are around 1000 seats in all. CMI provides full scholarships and monthly allowance of Rs 4000 to deserving students.
