Medical courses can be chosen by those who have chosen biology along with Physics and Chemistry, ie PCB group. The students who have opted for PCMB group are also eligible for taking up medical courses. However, there is tough competition for obtaining admission for medical courses due to limited seats. Further, the aspirants have to qualify the entrance exams like AIPMT, CET, etc. The different options of specialization in medical courses are given below.
After MBBS or other medical courses, one can choose to undertake a course like MD, MS, etc. The students of PCB group can also consider choice of admission to Laboratory Technician courses
All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) is conducted by CBSE in the month of May for admission for the 15% national quota in government medical/dental colleges (15% of 24,935 seats) all over India and for 100% seats in Delhi University, BHU, AFMC, Jamia Hamdard and for medical colleges in states of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. In 2015, there was only one paper instead of two papers in the older AIPMT. There were 180 objective type questions from physics, chemistry, botany and zoology (45 questions from each subject). There are about 3200 MBBS seats and 300 BDS seats in 183 Government medical colleges and 29 Dental colleges in India . There are 215 private medical colleges in which there are around 27,000 seats.
Admission to 5 year B. VSc and AH (Veternary Science and Animal Husbandry) are accorded to those who qualify the All India Pre-Veterinary. Through this exam 15% of total number of seats in Government Veterinary colleges except in the state of Jammu & Kashmir is filled up. The test is of 3 hours and has one paper of 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Find more at www.vci.nic.in
AIIMS conducts an entrance exam at national level for admission to MBBS in AIIMS (72 seats) and other 6 new AIIMS like institutions (100 seats) in Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh. The test is of 3.30 hours duration and comprises of four parts containing Physics (60 marks), Chemistry (60 marks) and Biology (60 marks) and General Knowledge (60 marks).
Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore conducts MBBS Entrance exam for admission to its MBBS course. There are 100 seats in the medical college and 42 are reserved for females. The test is held in two stages in the months of May and June.
Christian Medical College, Ludhiana (Affiliated to Baba Farid University, Faridkot, MCI Approved) Undergraduate Admission Test UG for admission to MBBS, BDS, B Sc Nursing and BPT degrees. There are 75 seats in MBBS course, 60 seats in B Sc Nursing, 40 seats in BDS and 20 seats in BPT. The syllabus for the online test is physics, chemistry, biology and General Aptitude. There will be 50 questions each and there is no negative marking. You can take a mock test on CMC Ludhiana's website.
Uttarakhand Pre Medical Test (UPMT) is conducted by G B Pant Agriculture and Technology University, Pantnager for admission to for MBBS and BDS courses in various Medical Colleges in Uttarakhand.
UP Combined Pre Medical Test (UPCPMT) entrance exam is conducted for admissions to state quota seats (800) for MBBS and BDS courses in various Medical Colleges in UP.
Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS), Wardha Maharshtra, conducts an entrance examination for admission to MBBS course. There are 46 seats for Maharashtra candidates and 46 seats for candidates of other states. The entrance exam comprises of multiple choice questions encompassing the subjects like physics, chemistry and biology. The part on Gandhian thought will be of long and short answer type.
In Maharashtra (MH-CET) and Karnataka, CET is conducted independently for admission to Medical courses in respective state colleges.
In the state of Andhra Pradesh, EAMCET is conducted by JNTU for admission to Medical and Agriculture courses in various state colleges.
GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi conducts Common Entrance Test ( CET) for admission to MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, B Tech, and B Arch. Government Colleges affiliated to GGS IP University are as follows : Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Patparganj, Bhai Parmanad Institute of Business Studies, Shakurpur, Mahila Institute of Technology, NationalPower Training Institute, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, Dr. B R Sur Homeopathic Medical College Hospital and Research Center, Delhi Institute of Heritage Research and Management.

There are 77 seats in the B Sc Hons Nursing course in Delhi and 60 each in other AIIMS. The test is of 2 hours and consists of four pars containing Physics 30 marks, Chemistry-30 marks and Biology 30 Marks and General Knowledge 10 marks.
