Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted by Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya Law University, Lucknow for admission to undergraduate and post graduate programmes at 14 National Law Universities (NLU). CLAT 2015 will be conducted. The test is conducted in the month of May and will be of 200 marks for 2 hours duration. The subject areas are as follows. English (40 marks), General Knowledge/ current affairs (50marks), Numerical ability (20 marks), Legal Aptitude (50 marks) and Logical reasoning (40 marks ). There is negative marking for wrong answers. The NLU's are NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR, Hyderabad, NLIU Bhopal, WBNUJS Kolkata, NLU Jodhpur, HNLU Raipur, GNLU Gandhi Nagar, RMNLU, Lucknow, RGNUL, Patiala, CNLU, Patna, NUALS, Kochi, NLUO, Cuttack, NUSRL, Ranchi, NLU JAA, Guwahati. There are about 1600 seats.
The National Law University Delhi conducts the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) in the month of April for admission to 80 seats in NLU, Delhi for its B.A.LL.B (Hons.), LL.M and Ph.D Degree Programmes. AILET tests the candidates on English, GK, Legal Aptitude, Reasoning and Numerical Ability. The paper is of 90 minutes duration and there are 150 questions. Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is conducted in the month of May for admission to Law programmes in participating colleges like Amity, UPES Dehradun, ITM Gurgaon, Jindal global Law school, Sonipat, Faculty of Law Dehradun, RGSOIPL 3 yr LLB at IIT Khargapur and others. LSAT has 4 sections on logical reasoning and reading comprehension.
Punjab University conducts entrance test in the month of May for admission to BA LLB / B Com LLB hons course offered by University Institute of Legal Studies, Punjab University (120 seats for BA LLB and 120 seats for B Com LLB, 12 seats for NRIs in each course), University institute of laws, Punjab University regional centre civil lines, Ludhiana (87 seats) and University Institute of legal studies PU Regional centre, Hosharpur (60 seats). The entrance test consists of one paper of 90 min duration on legal and general awareness. The paper will consist of 100 questions of one mark each. Of these, 60 questions will be for Testing General Knowledge and Current Affairs, 20 for Testing Aptitude for Law, 10 for Testing Mental Ability and rest of the 10 questions will be for Testing Proficiency in English Language.
